I JUST switched my family over to paleo. we found out we all have a variety of different allergies. Paleo is the one way of eating that addresses all the allergies. I'm WAY overwhelmed with the switch but this list will definitely help me. thank you! would you recommend any go-to reading source to help me navigate the Paleo world?
Thanks for the list! We also like the larabars for an easy to grab snack.
This is a great list! I don't think Kind Bars are 'Paleo' because they contain puffed rice and rice is a grain so a no-no. LaraBars, however, are Paleo. And in the avoid list, I believe legumes (beans and peanuts) and grains in general, not just wheat, should be added.
To Angie, Robb Wol's and Mark Sisson's websites are full of Paleo research.
Thanks for this list Lindsay. I'm slowly but surely trying to switch us over to a clean/paleo diet.
We've been trying to eat healthier and follow a mostly Paleo diet when we cook at home, but we still eat out with friends at times. This helps! Thanks!!
Great list Lindsay! I've been thinking of trying Paleo after the boy is born. Also dairy has a habit of irritating my stomach - something I've been blissfully ignoring for years. Sigh. The only thing is the cheese. It's like my favorite food. :(
This is very handy to have! I have a few friends that could use it, too!
Happy Spring Time!
Thanks for posting!! Ive been having a lot of trouble for finding websites that have recipes made from food that's actually Paleo friendly (cause you can never be sure.. lots of liars on the Internet) But its fantastic to hear from someone who's actually doing the diet because they know how their eating sticks to their diet ^_^ Thanks Linds!!
If you want more suggestions, this is my paleo grocery list (http://www.cupcakestocrossfit.com/paleo-101/the-paleo-grocery-list/) and my favorite paleo snacks (http://www.cupcakestocrossfit.com/health-and-fitness/paleo-challenge-day-24-paleo-snacks/). Kind Bars are definitely a no-no for paleo because they are made with rice and 1/2 of them have peanuts in them. Larabars are your best bet! Good luck with your paleo journey!
Now this is a great list! I will say the one problem we have is that we tend to buy or rather I tend to buy too much dairy. My wifey likes soy but I am not a fan. I need to find something that I would enjoy as well. Also need to try the coconut oil. Have you found that your grocery bill goes up or down when you are doing a Paleo list?
Regarding the Larabars...What about the Heart Thrives bars? www.heartthrives.com. I've been really into eating one little heart piece at a time, but sometimes two depending on my workout. To my knowledge, they are gluten free, dairy free, low GI, and made in a nut-free facility for those with alergies with the correct proportion of carbs to protein for a balanced diet. Has anyone tried these?
I looked at the Larabars and it looks like a lot of them contain brown rice syrup and brown rice flour. Those are no no's....correct?
Not sure if Lara Bars are Paleo.
