A few years ago my husband and I started a tradition that I love. Around the end of each year we go on a date where we write down new goals for the upcoming year and go over goals that we wrote down for the previous year. I find that writing goals down helps so much more with obtaining them because that way you see them every day. I also love sharing my personal goals with my husband because I feel like we hold each other more accountable and help each other accomplish them when they are shared.
A few of my 2013 goals are:
- Complete a half marathon. I have my very first one coming up in just a few weeks and I have been having dreams where I psych myself out! I am not going to psych myself out and I wish I could punch bad dreams in the face.
- Eliminate negative relationships. I do think that friendships and relationships take work but I do not think they should be a constant struggle. One of my favorite quotes is, "Be who you are and say what you feel because those those mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." I will be keeping this in mind (no pun intended) during the new year.
- Do a juice cleanse. After I am done nursing (I will be so sad when it is over) I plan on doing a juice fast with my husband. This means no coffee and no wine, just pure organic fresh pressed juice. Just typing this out I am nervous (at least about the no wine part ha).
- Spice things up in our marriage. I plan on doing a whole post on this but you get the gist.
Hope you all had a wonderful New Years Eve! Here is to an even better 2013-- I am cheers-ing you with my giant cup of coffee right now :)

One of my big goals is getting healthy! I just had a baby a few months ago and need to get on the healthy band wagon :)
Have a wonderful New Years!
Great goals!!! I love that you and your hubby are so close to do that together. We need to do that! Happy new year love:)
I love your goals! I also am making an effort to only have positive people and friends in my life this year as well. Happy New Year to you
I love the "eliminate negative relationships" one. :) Happy New Year, Lindsay!!
Can't wait to hear more about the juice cleanse. I have wanted to do too.
Happy New Year Lindsay! I too have been thinking about a juice cleanse.
That's a great list of goals:) I am looking forward to hearing about the juice cleanse. One of my resolutions is to organize my digital photos and stay on top of it. Further, I want to do quarterly photo books.
M.
Great goals! Thanks for sharing :) I have also been planning on doing a juice cleanse. I am trying to decide if I'm going to supplement with food or do only juice. Are you planning on eliminating food during yours?
1. good luck with your half! :) once you get out there the adrenaline and the crowds will pump you up. and then you will be hooked!
2. I eliminated toxic relationships last year (2012) - i didn't think friendships and relationships should be censored and separated. best decision ever.
One of my New Year resolutions is the same as yours: Surround myself with positive people. God has blessed me and I need people around me that will help me live out my purpose.
Natalie- I might supplement with a little food (fruit) since being type 1 diabetic can be unpredictable. I will do a post on it when I start with all the details :)
Your resolutions sound great- very realistic and attainable. I, too, have resolved to become better at eliminating unhealthy relationships from my life. I also want to be better at keeping in touch with people I don't see every day, and also to be a better friend to those I do.
I can't wait to hear about the juice cleanse...I've heard a bit about juice detoxes before and am thinking about trying one out. And good luck with the marathon!
Hi Lindsay. Happy New year.. great goals.. i respect the eliminating negative relationships! You know I hv been surrounding myself with not so good crowds and theyre really depressing. :-( i couldnt really bring myself to avoid the crowd because i thought it was wrong or unkind of me to do that but now i read your post and i thought "finally! im not mad after all!":-) i can start my new year being at peace now haha..
I am actually doing a juice cleanse very soon! I am psyching myself up for it now, trying to eat as healthy as possible. I just got done watching "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" and it opened my eyes. I have about 75-100 more pounds to lose and the thought of getting all the toxins out of my body and starting fresh excites me! A new me for a new year :D Hope 2013 is a wonderful year for you!
