Most of the things I cook are pretty simple. If you are looking for a five layer cake recipe you will not find that here. I am pro blender. If you can stick a few ingredients in the blender and make a soup I'm sold!
During out last trip to the grocery store..I stopped and chatted with the sushi chef. I asked him how to make a sushi hand roll and he showed me. THIS IS SIMPLE people. The only "hard" part was cooking the rice. I kind of screwed this up...but SHHHH Ian did not notice.
How do you mess up cooking rice? Who knows but I did. It was all crispy and stuck to the pan. Maybe I did not add enough water....Any whoo..

What you will need:
- An assortment of fresh veggies
- Nori seaweed paper
- Brown rice
- Cooked shrimp
I bought way too much shrimp you only need a small handful. You cut them up into tiny pieces to use in your hand rolls.

That looks delicious! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE sushi. I even have a happy sushi dance (don't worry, I won't show you :) )
Yum! I've never tried to make sushi! But this looks so simple and delish! Thanks!

Oh my goodies! I am SO making this. Bookmarked.
Oh wow, this this awesome, delish and easy! Going to give this a try. Thanks!
Ah, unfortunately the smell of seaweed makes me gag unstoppably :( I so wish I could eat sushi!
Oh, they're so cute Lindsay and so good of you to use brown rice. I only use sushi rice but should try it with brown for so many reasons. A great summer lunch dish for us.

This looks so good! I've never liked sushi but don't think I've actually had any that was done right. I'm a new follower from Wandering Wednesday. http://www.grandmasguidetolife.blogspot.com
Hmmm...looks yummy and so easy to make.
you always made it so fun and easy. I use the rice cooker to cook rice, just add water and "ting" it's ready, haha..but I guess you probably don't eat rice often enuff to get a cooker.

Wow, these look delicious. And that avocado....YUM!
Making my own sushi is on my list of "to dos" but, frankly, I have been a bit intimidated {it looks challenging!} but you made it look so easy {and so yummy} I think I need to give a go soon!!!!

I have always wanted to try sushi making! This is awesome- it doesn't look that hard at all! Thanks for opening the door to an amazing and delicious adventure, hehe. :)
I think I might register for a rice cooker- mine always gets soggy and gross!
Thank you for this recipe! I've been dying to make my own sushi, but had no idea where to start!

mmmm this made me want sushi! looks yumm!!
These look so yummy! I love Sushi!
I always thought sushi was way hard and you needed one of those bamboo rollers to do it! Who knew? I love sushi but as a vegetarian, there are few places that cater to my exotic tastes. My favorite roll has macademia nuts, cream cheese, avocado and garlic in it. Now I don't have to wait til I'm in Santa Cruz to make it!
ohhh man, you're making me hungry!
This look so good right now! I just recently took a liking to sushi, plus its so fun to make!
By the way...I have always had a hard time cooking rice until my grandma gave me a Martha Stewart cast iron pot for x-mas. It cooks rice perfectly, even better then my rice-cooker!
wow, this is way sweet! I would never think to try making my own sushi!
will have to give it a try :)
Oh, my husband would LOVE this. Can you just live by me & we can do dinner swaps?? Except you would probably get the raw end of the stick with my dinners. :) Thanks for sharing Linds!
Looks easy enough! Good idea getting tips from the sushi chef!!
