Here is our side yard before we (mostly Ian) did some serious weeding and we (Ian) started building our garden beds.
Genius. Biodegradable pots. You simply plant directly into the ground. No plastic pots to throw away.

First garden bed done! This one includes:

It has always been a dream of mine to have our own family garden. What could be better than picking your own fresh vegetables for dinner? I am always preaching about buying locally grown produce and it doesn't get much more local than your own backyard. Some of you may be thinking..."Okay sounds good if you have a house with a backyard"...even if you live in an apartment or small condo without backyard space you can STILL have a little garden. Check out THIS awesome blog where it shows you how. I am really looking forward to watching our garden grow and flourish!

hey, good for you....You guys did a great job!! Mine still isn't planted this year, as we are still getting rain everyday! (isn't it great to have hubbys that help make our dreams come true!) www.srkindredspirits.blogspot.com/2011/04/my-garden.html

Love the idea of the biodegradable pots - very clever. You can also plant seeds in the individual sections of cardboard egg cartons (if you have cardboard egg boxes in the US) and then transplant the seedling in each little segment.
Thanks for visiting my blog and your kind comments.
I really want to start a garden, too, but have absolutely no idea how to start or what to do - I've never done anything like that, but love the idea of it! Yours looks fabulous!
Uncle Paul built me 4 of those two years ago...the 1st year was fun now they are sitting empty waiting to be planted...I hope to get to it next week. Lots of fun...we did pumpkins too.
Looks awesome and I am loving your blog! I may have to add anotehr box down the line too. Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)
